Oh i'm sick.. in utter pain.. arghhhh!!!
:) On MC today (yayyy!). Got away from work (luckily), not cos i want to but cos i had too.. My jaw is killing me and throbing headaches that comes with it.. fuh.. overwhelming...
I'm suffering from TMJD...
Themporomandibular Joint Disorder... huge.. i noe.. :)
But let me attempt to enlighten u...
What is it?TMJ is d small joint located in front of the ear where the skull and lower jaw meet. It is a "ball and socket" joint with a disc made of cartilage that serves as a cushion between the parts of the joint.

The blue portion is d disc. When d disc is displaced, it removes the cushioning effect between the "ball" and "socket" and can result in tenderness and pain in the joint.
The signs & symptoms?
Jaw pain and/or stiffness
Headaches, usually at the temples and side of head
Painful or tender jaw joint
Difficulty opening jaw
Pain and fatigue when eating hard or chewy foods
Clicks, pops, or grinding sound in jaw joint
Ear pain
What causes it?
These are the few contributing factors.
- Bruxism - a non functional grinding and clenching of the teeth. Some do this while awake but more often it is done while sleeping. For whatever reason some people do this very hard to the point where they wear the enamel from their teeth. This bruxing is done by the jaw muscles and by the morning they can be painful due to fatigue. Bruxism is the most common factor found in TMD. (i dun remember grinding tho.. )
- Emotion - Emotional stress plays a role in the development of TMD. There are two basic reasons.
a) Stress increases both the severity and duration of bruxism while asleep.
b) Many will subconsciously clench and/or grind their teeth while awake during times of stress.
Emotional conditions beyond daily life stress such as depression and anxiety disorder can contribute to TMD as well.
- Ergonomic - Your job and how you do it can contribute to TMD and related problems. If you work at a computer most of d time (doesn't it sound familiar my frens?), for example, you may be holding your head in such a way that places strain on your TM system.
Alright so i'm d first CCPE to have dis.. as far as i noe dat is.. But apart from all dis, i tink i mite have chewed gum too much dat i overstrain my jaw.. WHAHAHAH STUPIDITY!!
So my dear frens, dun overstress urself.. heheh chill... & dats y i'm at home medicating myself with cartoons & junk food!! yay!! ahhaha
